Mer information

  • Cialis is a type of medication called a phosphodiesterase type-5 inhibitor.
  • Cialis is used by men who have difficulty achieving or maintaining an erection. It should only be taken prior to sexual activity.
  • Cialis should be taken 30 minutes to an hour before you expect to have sex. The medication will then work for around four hours.
  • Cialis can also be used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland, including difficulty passing urine. In this case, Cialis should be taken daily.
  • You should read the patient leaflet prior to use.

Problems getting or maintaining an erection are classed as erectile dysfunction or impotence. It more commonly affects men over the age of 40, and there can be a number of causes. The occasional problem achieving an erection can occur as a result of stress, tiredness, anxiety or drinking excess alcohol.

When erectile problems occur more frequently, causes can include diabetes, narrowing of the blood vessels in the penis, high blood pressure or damage to the nerves. Treatment of the underlying condition is key, but Cialis can also be used to help achieve an erection.

Cialis is commonly prescribed to men who have difficulties achieving or maintaining an erection. Erectile dysfunction is often caused by narrowing of the blood vessels that supply the penis. The active ingredient in Cialis, tadalafil, works by widening the blood vessels. This improves blood flow to the penis during arousal and sexual stimulation, helping to maintain an erection. Cialis will only work when you are aroused.

When prescribed for an enlarged prostate, Cialis improves blood flow to the prostate, and relaxes the muscles so that it is easier to pass urine and completely empty the bladder.

Cialis Tablets

Cialis is a tablet that is swallowed whole with water. It can be taken with or without food. It is available in varying strengths, and it is important to make sure you take it exactly as prescribed.

For erectile dysfunction, take Cialis at least half an hour before you expect to have sex. Do not take more than one dose in a 24 hour period. If the tablet does not help you to achieve an erection, or if the erection does not last long enough, speak to a medical professional to see whether it is safe to increase the dose.

For prostate enlargement, one dose is taken every day at roughly the same time. If symptoms do not improve, a medical professional should be consulted regarding increasing the dose.

Cialis 10mg / 20mg

Cialis is available in four doses; 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg and 20mg.

Cialis Dosage

For erectile dysfunction, the usual dose of Cialis is 10mg to 20mg prior to sexual activity.

For symptoms of an enlarged prostate, a common starting dose is 5mg of Cialis every day.

Cialis Side Effects

Like most medications, Cialis has some side effects, but most are well tolerated. Headaches, dizziness and flushing can all occur as a result of blood vessel dilation.  You may also notice a stuffy nose, indigestion or muscle aches. Simple pain relief can be taken if needed, and any other side effects should soon pass.

However, if you notice chest pains, a prolonged erection that lasts for more than four hours, problems with eyesight or hearing, a serious skin reaction or seizures you must stop tadalafil and speak to a doctor straight away.

Unfortunately, Cialis does not suit everyone. That’s why we include a health questionnaire as part of your Consultation with EU Meds. Cialis may not be suitable for patients who:

  • Have heart or blood vessel disease including low blood pressure, angina or a past medical history of a heart attack
  • Have eye disease causing loss of vision
  • Have liver or kidney disease
  • Have a history of a stroke
  • Have a history of bone or blood cancers including leukaemia
  • Have any disease or deformity of the penis
  • Take certain medications, including herbal supplements
  • Have had an allergic reaction to a similar medication in the past.

Additionally, grapefruit juice should not be consumed whilst taking Cialis. A chemical within the juice may increase the amount of Cialis in your bloodstream, which could lead to side effects.

Drinking large amounts of alcohol can reduce your ability to get an erection. To get the most from your Cialis tablets, avoid drinking alcohol prior to sexual activity.
