Zimovane is a type of sleeping tablet that is often prescribed to treat insomnia (difficulty sleeping). Zimovane is a brand name for the sleeping medication zopiclone. Zimovane should only be used short term to help with insomnia for up to two to four weeks per prescription.

Can I take zimovane?

Zimovane should not be taken by anyone under the age of 18 years old. You must check with your doctor before taking zimovane if you:

• have had problems with your mental health

Does zimovane have any side effects?

The majority of people will not experience any side effects when taking zimovane. Most people who do experience side effects find that they pass when they have finished taking zopiclone. However, if your side effects do not go away or if they are bothering you, please speak to your GP.

These common side effects can affect more than 1 in 100 people:

• A bitter or metallic taste in your mouth

• A dry mouth

• Sleepiness

Some side effects are much rarer but can be more serious. On average, they happen in less than 1 in 1,000 people. If you experience any of these, it’s important that you seek medical attention urgently:

• Memory loss

• Hallucinations

• A loss of balance

• Delusions

• Depression

How do I take zimovane?

Zimovane tablets come in 2 different strengths, and both are sold by EU Meds - 3.75mg and 7.5mg. Your dosage and strength will be determined by your doctor as they outline your medication schedule. However, the usual dose is to take your tablet just before you go to bed on your assigned days (not every day of the week). Zimovane takes around an hour to kick in. Although most people are prescribed the 7.5mg dosage, sometimes, the lower dose of 3.75mg may be recommended to begin, particularly if you're over 65 years old or have kidney/liver problems. Taking the lower dosage can reduce the risk of exaggerated sleepiness and other potential side effects.

When taking zimovane, it’s very important to take the tablet whole. It must not be crushed or chewed, simply swallowed straight away.
